PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorber which has a high absorbing speed and prevents the return of a liquid.
SOLUTION: The absorber is equipped with a lower absorbent layer 2 containing a pulp fiber and an upper absorbent layer 3 which overlies the lower absorbent layer 2 and comprises a non-woven fabric containing a highly absorbent polymer. The upper absorbent layer 3 contains no binder component for binding the highly absorbent polymer to a fiber component contained in the upper absorbent layer 3, and the highly absorbent polymer is supported by the upper absorbent layer 3 without the binder component. The absorber is configured to form a space part S in the lower absorbent layer 2 after absorbing the liquid.
