The apparatus includes an irradiator that radiates light having a predetermined light intensity to a predetermined site of a living body from outside the living body toward inside the living body, a light intensity detector that detects a light arrival range in the living body based on the light intensity of light emitted from the living body, and a controller that calculates a predetermined light arrival range parameter based on the light arrival range and calculates lipid concentration in the living body based on the light arrival range parameter.
