A method of protecting dyed hair color from fading or wash-out during exposure to air and/or shampooing is described. In accordance with one aspect the method includes treating dyed hair with a composition containing (i) a hydrophobically modified quaternary polymer, (ii) a hydrophobicaJly modified polymer plus a cationic surfactant, (iii) a polymer containing diεthylaminopropyl methacrylamide (DMAPMA), dimethylaminoethyl methacrylamide (DMAEMA) or diethylaminoethy] methacrylamide (DEAEMA) or (iv) a combination thereof.La présente invention concerne un procédé de protection d'une teinture pour cheveux contre la décoloration ou le lavage pendant l'exposition à l'air et/ou au shampooing. Selon un aspect, le procédé comprend le traitement de cheveux colorés avec une composition contenant (i) un polymère quaternaire à modification hydrophobe, (ii) un polymère à modification hydrophobe plus un tensioactif cationique, (iii) un polymère contenant du diéthylaminopropylméthacrylamide (DMAPMA), du diméthylaminoéthylméthacrylamide (DMAEMA) ou du diéthylaminoéthylméthacrylamide (DEAEMA) ou (iv) une combinaison de ceux-ci.
