The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for coating keratinous fibres of the emulsion type, comprising: - an aqueous phase, - at least one wax, - an emulsifying system comprising at least one surfactant, - at least one film-forming polymer present in a solids content of greater than or equal to 5% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the composition, - at least one organic lipophilic gelling agent, in which the wax(es) and the emulsifying system are present at a respective total content such that the ratio by weight of the wax(es) to the emulsifying system is less than or equal to 1. The present invention also relates to a method for coating keratinous fibres, in particular for making up the eyelashes, comprising a stage of application of the said cosmetic composition for coating keratinous fibres.Cette invention concerne une composition cosmétique permettant de recouvrir des fibres de kératine, ladite composition étant une émulsion comprenant : une phase aqueuse au moins une cire un système émulsifiant comprenant au moins un tensioactif au moins un polymère filmogène dont la teneur en solides est supérieure ou égale à 5 % en poids par rapport au poids total de la composition au moins un agent gélifiant lipophile organique, la cire/les cires et le système émulsifiant étant présents en une quantité totale respective telle que le rapport en poids cire(s)/système émulsifiant est inférieur ou égal à 1. Linvention concerne également une méthode permettant de recouvrir des fibres de kératine, en particulier pour le maquillage des cils, consistant à appliquer ladite composition cosmétique pour recouvrir lesdites fibres de kératine.
