Provided is a structural color material comprising resin particles having a structural color, the resin particles being obtained by: feeding a fluid obtained by mixing a radical polymerizable monomer and a water medium comprising a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator, at a constant flow rate, into a minute tubular flow path instantly bringing the fluid temperature to a previously set temperature and thereafter partially reacting the radical polymerizable monomer in the presence of the water-soluble radical polymerization initiator, thereby causing particle nuclei of uniform resin particles to be formed inside the minute tubular flow path and running a polymerization reaction of a polymerization reaction solution comprising the resulting particle nuclei, using a reaction tank provided with a stirring device and the mean grain size of the resin particles being in the range of 150 to 400 nm and the absolute value of the zeta potential being in the range of 30 to 80 mV.
