The thread forming rod 300 sets the throw distance of the needle and cannula to cause the actuator to ablate biopsy specimens of 20 mm to 60 mm. The number wheels 104 and 106 in the shot counter are moved upon firing of the needle carrier 278. The lifecycle indicator registers the load of the actuator and indicates when the mechanical components of the actuator require repair.
