IP No. 598318 The disclosure relates to a method for the preparation for a crystalline form of 1-chloro-4-(&Bgr；- D-glucopyranos-1-yl)-2-[4-((S)-tetrahydrofuran-3-yloxy)-benzyl]-benzene. The method of the disclosure comprises precipitating the compound from a mixture of two solvents, toluene/ethanol, toluene/1-propanol, toluene/2-propanol, tetrahydrofuran/ethanol, tetrahydrofuran/1-propanol and tetrahydrofuran/2-propanol being preferred. In addition the invention relates to a crystalline form obtainable by this method, to a pharmaceutical composition and to the use thereof for preparing medicaments. Conditions that may be treated with the medicaments of the disclosure include: type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, complications of diabetes, metabolic acidosis or ketosis, reactive hypoglycaemia, hyperinsulinaemia, glucose metabolic disorder, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidaemias of different origins, atherosclerosis and related diseases, obesity, high blood pressure, chronic heart failure, oedema and hyperuricaemia.
