The purpose of the present invention is to provide an absorbent article which is obtained by coating a surface sheet with a gel like composition and which exhibits excellent surface dryness excellent liquid permeability in the thickness direction and excellent absorbency while maintaining the joined state between the surface sheet and a core wrapping sheet. This absorbent article (1) is provided with: an absorbent body (4) including an absorbent core (41) and a core wrapping sheet (42) surrounding the absorbent core (41) and a surface sheet (2) which is provided to the skin surface side of the absorbent body (4) and which is joined with the core wrapping sheet (42) by an adhesive agent. The skin surface side surface of the surface sheet (2) is intermittently coated with a hydrophobic gel like composition capable of maintaining a gel state at 38°C.
