A non-destructive method of analysing a quantity of a deposited skinprint, preferably a fingerprint, on a reflective substrate is disclosed. The method comprises: using an electromagnetic detector to obtain an optical image of the skinprint on the reflective substrate； and outputting a value for skinprint quantity, wherein skinprint quantity is a function of image density of the optical image.
