PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the occurrence of momentarily large leakage magnetic fields in the MRI system using a superconducting electromagnet.
SOLUTION: In a superconducting electromagnet provided with a static magnetic field generation source including superconducting coils, provided is a superconducting electromagnet with a control means to control the increase of leakage magnetic fields that take place at the time of quench of the superconducting coils. Also, a magnetic resonance imaging system is provided, using such a superconducting electromagnet.
