The present invention provides a lumbar back support belt. A thin stretchable top layer is sewn over a thick stretchable bottom layer so that the thin layer is at the top viewable part of the belt and the thick layer is at the bottom part of the belt against the user. A pocket is sewn onto the top of the belt. A gripping mechanism is connected to the bottom part of the belt and is used for holding the belt in place around the users waist. A hook and loop fastener is used for connecting the ends of the belt together. In a preferred embodiment, the gripping mechanism is a silicone strip. Also, in a preferred embodiment the hook and loop fastener is a Velcro® hook and loop fastener.
