The present invention includes methods for treating live cell compositions in non-nutritive buffers. The cells in the compositions retain their essential and functional properties even after non-nutrient media or storage for up to about 72 hours. The storage method makes it possible for the cells to be manufactured in the treatment facility and transported to the treatment facility.
