PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing apparatus that needs no deformation change in a diagnostic subject image and can absorb a deviation in an individual to set easily an ROI for classifying organs in such a way that they may have their respective anatomical and functional meanings.
SOLUTION: The apparatus inputs a diagnostic subject image and reads a template ROI from a memory to set on the image in order to divide the area of the image into the predetermined areas based on anatomy, physiology, and the other, wherein a matching section bases on the character information about the diagnostic subject image extracted by a character information extraction section to deform the template ROI to correspond to the individual diagnostic subject image, and the deformation is kept to carry out until an index showing the matching level of the template ROI with the diagnostic image reaches a certain limit, while the deformed template ROI is displayed in a display section to overlap with the diagnostic image.
