A solid matrix sustained release ophthalmic formulation for topical delivery of a solid ophthalmic drug to the eye, medical devices, drug cores, drug inserts and drug delivery systems comprising the formulation, methods of manufacturing the formulation, medical devices and their methods thereof for delivering the ophthalmic drug for a treatment period provided herein. The formulation disclosed herein is an admixture of an ophthalmic drug, and a combination of a hydrophobic polymer, a hydrophilic polymer and a surfactant, wherein the drug is eluted daily over an extended period of time at therapeutic dose of drug.L'invention concerne une formulation ophtalmique à libération prolongée à matrice solide pour l'administration topique d'un médicament ophtalmique solide dans l'œil, des dispositifs médicaux, des noyaux médicamenteux, des insertions médicamenteuses et des systèmes d'administration pharmacologique comprenant la formulation, des procédés de fabrication de la formulation, des dispositifs médicaux et les procédés associés d'administration du médicament ophtalmique pour une durée de traitement indiquée. La formulation selon l'invention est un mélange constitué d'un médicament ophtalmique et d'une association d'un polymère hydrophobe, d'un polymère hydrophile et d'un tensioactif, le médicament étant élué quotidiennement pendant une durée prolongée à une dose pharmacologique thérapeutique.
