The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating inflammatory bowel disease, containing, as an active ingredient, at least one selected from the group composed of senescence marker protein-30 (SMP30), an effector thereof, and an expression accelerator thereof. The composition of the present invention is capable of inhibiting intestinal inflammation by suppressing expression of inflammatory cytokines and granulocyte colony stimulating factors. In addition, the composition can be useful as a biomarker composition for diagnosing inflammatory bowel disease.
