The present disclosure relates to a material reducing apparatus adapted tobe coupled to a vehicle by a pivot arm or other structure. The materialreducingapparatus includes a reducing head with rotary reducing component. Thereducing headcan be titled about a tilt axis relative to the vehicle and can be raised andlowered relativeto a vehicle. The reducing head has a thrown object deflector thatautomatically movesrelative to the rotary reducing component when the reducing head is tiltedrelative to thevehicle.
