PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic which contains casein nanoparticles and has desired thickening properties.SOLUTION: The cosmetic at least contains casein nanoparticles and a thickener. A first solution is prepared by incorporating 0.2 mass% of the thickener into water. The first solution has a viscosity value I (mPa s) when measured with a B-type viscometer (measurement conditions: 25°C, 30 s, 30 rpm). A second solution is prepared by incorporating the thickener into the following test solution A so that the content of the thickener in 100 g of the second solution may be 0.2 mass%, adjusting the amount of the second solution to 100 g by adding water, and adjusting pH to 7.5 with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (1 M). The second solution has a viscosity value II (mPa s) when measured with a B-type viscometer (measurement conditions: 25°C, 30 s, 30 rpm). The viscosity ratio (I/II) of the viscosity value I (mPa s) to the viscosity value II (mPa s) is 10 or less.
