The present invention concerns the cosmetic, non-therapeutic use of derivatives of 4-(3-ethoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)alkylketone of formula (I), in which: - R1 represents a C1-C4 alkyl radical - R2 represents a hydrogen atom, or a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched C1-C6 hydrocarbon radical； - R3 represents a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched C1-C4 hydrocarbon radical, optionally substituted by a hydroxyl group； - C-X represents C=O or CH-OH； as a skin-soothing agent for the face and/or the body.
