Provided are an apparatus for preventing barking of animals such as dogs and a method thereof. The apparatus for preventing barking of animals, which is worn on a body of an animal and applies a stimulation to the animal when barking thereof is sensed to prevent barking thereof, comprises: a first sensor for sensing barking of an animal to output a first sensing signal； a second sensor for sensing a movement of the animal to output a second sensing signal； a stimulation application means for applying stimulation to an animal； and a control unit for receiving the first sensing signal and the second sensing signal to determine whether an animal has barked, and if it is determined that the animal has barked, controlling the stimulation application means to apply a stimulation to the animal. The control unit determines that an animal has barked if it is determined that the animal has a specific motion such as raising a head, which is accompanied by barking of an animal, from the second sensing signal while the first sensing signal indicates that an animal has barked. According to the present invention, barking of an animal is determined by considering outputs of the conventional first sensor and the second sensor sensing a specific motion of an animal at the same time, thereby simply and cheaply solving a problem of incorrect sensing.개와 같은 동물의 짖음을 방지하는 장치 및 방법을 제공한다. 본 발명의 동물 짖음 방지 장치는, 동물의 신체에 착용되어 동물의 짖음을 감지하면 동물에게 자극을 인가함으로써 동물의 짖음을 방지하는 장치로서, 동물의 짖음을 감지하여 제1 감지신호를 출력하는 제1 센서； 동물의 움직임을 감지하여 제2 감지신호를 출력하는 제2 센서； 동물에 자극을 인가하는 자극 인가수단； 및 상기 제1 감지신호와 제2 감지신호를 입력 받아 동물이 짖었는지를 판단하고, 동물이 짖었다고 판단되면 자극 인가수단을 제어하여 동물에게 자극을 인가하도록 구동하는 제어부를 포함하고, 상기 제어부는, 상기 제1 감지신호가 동물이 짖었음을 나타내는 신호임과 동시에, 상기 제2 감지신호로부터 동물이 짖을 때에 수반되는 특정 움직임, 예컨대 고개를 쳐드는 동작을 하였다고 판단되면, 동물이 짖었다고 판단한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 종래의 제1 센서와 동물의 특정 움직임을 감지하는 제2 센서의 출력을 동시에 고려하여 동물의 짖음을 판단하기 때문에, 오감지의 문제를 간단하고 저렴하게 극복할 수 있다.
