The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for determining the amount of one stroke. The apparatus is adapted to receive an arterial pressure waveform and to compensate for a portion of the pressure waveform of the heartbeat affected by the ectopic heartbeat of the pressure waveform, the change in the baseline of atrial fibrillation or pressure waveform.
