Medical devices that include on at least some portion thereof an aromatic polyimide of the structure: (I) wherein R is a tetravalent aromatic radical, preferably containing at least one ring of six carbon atoms, said ring characterized by benzenoid unsaturation, the four carbonyl groups being attached directly to separate carbon atoms in a ring and each pair of carbonyl groups being attached to adjacent carbon atoms in a ring of the R radical and wherein R’ is a divalent benzenoid radical selected from the group consisting of (a) and (b) wherein R’’ is selected from the group consisting of an alkylene chain having 1-3 carbon atoms, wherein R’’’ and R’’’’ are selected from the group consisting of alkyl and aryl. In one embodiment the medical device is a coated lead body. Coated guide wires are a further embodiment. Methods of application are a further embodiment.Linvention concerne des dispositifs médicaux qui comprennent sur au moins une partie un polyimide aromatique de structure (I) dans laquelle R représente un radical aromatique tétravalent, contenant de préférence au moins un cycle de six atomes de carbone, cycle caractérisé par une insaturation benzènoïde, les quatre groupes carbonyle étant fixés directement à des atomes de carbone séparés dans un cycle et chaque paire de groupes carbonyle étant fixée aux atomes de carbone adjacentes dans un cycle du radical R R est un radical benzènoïde divalent choisi dans le groupe formé de (AA) et (BB), R étant choisi dans le groupe constitué dune chaîne alkylène possédant 1-3 atomes de carbone, (CC), (DD), (EE), (FF), (GG), (HH), (II) et (JJ), R et R étant choisis dans le groupe formé dalkyle et daryle. Dans un mode de réalisation, le dispositif médical est un corps de dérivation enrobé. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, des fils-guides enrobés sont décrits, et encore dans un autre mode de réalisation des méthodes dapplication sont présentées.
