The invention relates to polymers selected from among polypropylene (PP), polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), polyvinylchloride (PVC) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET), nylon and polystyrene, having antibacterial properties, wherein the antibacterial effect is obtained by adding a zinc salt selected from among: zinc PCA, zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide, zinc pyrrolidone or zinc pyrithione during the process of polymerization of the monomers.
