A cut surface of a scion (10) and a cut surface of a rootstock (20) are made to contact with each other, sheet-like thermoplastic resin films (38A, 38B) are disposed facing each other across a contact part, and a periphery of the contact part is covered with the thermoplastic resin films (38A,38B) by ultrasonically welding the thermoplastic resin films (38A,38B) with use of an ultrasonic welder (34) to maintain a joined state of the scion and the rootstock at low cost.
