The present invention relates to the cosmetic use of a pericarp extract of the plant Nephelium lappaceum in order to maintain and/or increase the hydration and/or the barrier effect of the skin and/or of the mucous membranes. The pericarp extract increases the synthesis of involucrin, the content of hyaluronic acid, synthesis of ATP and of taurine transporter TauT. The invention also relates to a method of cosmetic care comprising the topical application of the pericarp extract of N. lappaceum. Finally, the invention relates to the pericarp extract for its use, in particular dermatological use, in the treatment and/or prevention of pathologies caused by a state of abnormal dryness of the skin and/or of the mucous membranes.La présente invention a pour objet l'utilisation cosmétique d'un extrait de péricarpe de la plante Nephelium lappaceum pour maintenir et/ou augmenter l'hydratation et/ou l'effet barrière de la peau et/ou des muqueuses. L'extrait de péricarpe augmente la synthèse d'involucrine, la teneur en acide hyaluronique, la synthèse d'ATP et du transporteur de taurine TAUT. Un autre objet de l'invention concerne un procédé de soin cosmétique comprenant l'application par voie topique de l'extrait de péricarpe de N. lappaceum. Enfin, un objet de l'invention concerne l'extrait de péricarpe pour son utilisation, notamment dermatologique, dans le traitement et/ou la prévention des pathologies causées par un état de sécheresse anormal de la peau et/ou des muqueuses.
