An ophthalmologic photographing apparatus is disclosed which is capable of photographing a predetermined area of a subjects eye. The apparatus includes a light projecting unit configured to project visible light to a subjects eye, a detection unit configured to measure a pupil diameter, which is caused by the light projecting unit, and a control unit configured to determine the amount of change in diameter and to control a photographing operation based on the amount of change determined by the control unit.
