The invention relates to depigmenting topical compositions and to their uses. In particular, the compositions according to the invention show an improved effectiveness in the dermatological treatment of pigmentation, without the disadvantages of the compositions of the prior art. A subject-matter of the invention is a topical composition comprising, in a physiologically acceptable medium, from 3 to 10% of rucinol or one of its salts.
