Nontherapeutic use of a 6-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-hexanoic acid (I) or its salts as an agent in a cosmetic composition for treating oily or shiny skin to prevent and/or treat skin odors, dry skin or blemishes and scalps with dandruff, is claimed. Nontherapeutic use of a 6-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-hexanoic acid of formula (I) or its salts as an agent in a cosmetic composition for treating oily or shiny skin to prevent and/or treat skin odors, dry skin or blemishes and scalps with dandruff, is claimed.
