A seed sensor for detecting the passage of a seed through a tube, comprising means for emitting radiation through the tube in two orthogonal directions; means for uniformly distributing radiation from said means for emitting radiation; means for detecting radiation transmitted through said tube in two orthogonal directions in such a way that the passing seed interrupts the radiation incident on the radiation detection means; means for determining the position of the seed in the sowing tube in two orthogonal directions. 2.
