A stent (120) having a longitudinal axis (127) and comprising a plurality of bands (122) connected one to another by connectors (124), each band comprising a plurality of first portions (126) and a plurality of second portions (128), the first portions being generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the stent, the second portions being parallel to the longitudinal axis of the stent, the second portions engaging the first portions, each first portions having a width (Wt), each second portion having a width (Wl), and each connector having a width (Wc),characterized in that the width (Wt) of the first portions is greater than the width of the second portions (Wl) and the width of the connectors (Wc) and the width of the second portions (Wl) is greater than the width (Wc) of the connectors.
