PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image diagnosis apparatus and a control method in which PET (Positron Emission Tomography) image data can be properly collected.SOLUTION: A PET scanner includes a first detector and a second detector. The first detector is disposed within a range of a first angle with respect to the center of a circumference surrounding a subject, and includes a plurality of first detector elements. The second detector is disposed within a second angle opposite to the first detector so as to be movable at least in one direction out of a circumferential direction and the radial direction of the circumference, and includes a plurality of second detector elements, each of which is different in type from the first detector element.
