Systems and methods are provided for calculating point values for users participating in an activity. First, activity is detected by a sensor. By comparing the sensor signal with the template, the processor classifies the activity. Once the activity is classified, an activity factor is selected. A point value is then calculated according to the function of the activity factor and the duration of the activity. Points can be deducted when meeting certain criteria, such as being inactive for a given time.
