An injection device for receiving a syringe and delivering medicament from the syringe. The injection-device comprising: an insertion driver 308 to drive the syringe forward within the injection-device to insert a syringe needle into an injection site; an interlock mechanism retaining the insertion driver 308 in a primed state until actuated allowing the insertion driver 308 to drive the syringe forward; and an interlock actuator moveable between stowed and operable positions, where on movement from stowed to operable positions the actuator couples to an actuation system such that a subsequent movement from the operable position back towards the stowed position actuates the interlock mechanism. Interlock actuator 204,206 may comprises a lockout shroud partially received within the device 200. The interlock mechanism may comprise a rearwardly extending ramp and a lug linearly coupled to the syringe and biased onto the ramp resisting rearward lug travel on the ramp. Insertion driver 308 may bias the actuator from the stowed towards the operable position, the injection device further comprising a stowage lock to retain the actuator in the stowed position, where the stowage lock comprises a cap removably fitted to the device 200, where cap removal releases the stowage lock.
