PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plant intended for restoring the fertility of the descendant plants by hybridization with such a male or female sterility plant that a restorative DNA and recombinant DNA are included in such a state as to be integrated into the nuclear DNA and the restorative DNA expresses male sterility character or the like. SOLUTION: This plant intended for restoring the fertility of the descendant plants is obtained by hybridization with such a male or female sterility plant that (A) a restorative DNA encoding a protein as a ribonuclease repressor and (B) a recombinant DNA containing a 1st chimeral gene containing a 1st promoter commanding an expression at least in plant cells are included in such a state as to be integrated into the nuclear DNA in the cells, the restorative DNA lies in the transcription unit identical with the 1st promoter and is under control of the unit and male or female sterility character due to the selective production of ribonuclease in the plant cells is expressed.
