In one example, a cosmetic agent, in a cosmetically compatible carrier, includes 2-butyloctanoic acid and at least one diol of the formula (I)wherein n denotes an integer selected from the group of 3, 5, 7 and 9. The total amount of compound(s) of the formula (I) is from about 0.05 to about 10 wt. %, relative to the agent.
