Compounds, compositions and methods are provided that comprise selective beta-glucuronidase inhibitors for both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, especially enteric bacteria normally associated with the gastrointestinal tract. The compounds, compositions and methods can be for inhibiting bacterial beta-glucuronidases and for improving efficacy of camptothecin-derived antineoplastic agents or glucuronidase-substrate agents or compounds by attenuating the side effects caused by reactivation by bacterial beta-glucuronidases of glucuronidated metabolites of camptothecin-derived antineoplastic agents or glucuronidase-substrate agents or compounds.La présente invention concerne des composés, des compositions et des procédés comprenant des inhibiteurs sélectifs de la β-glucuronidase à la fois pour des bactéries aérobies et anaérobies, en particulier des bactéries entériques normalement associées au tractus gastro-intestinal. Les composés, compositions et procédés peuvent être utilisés pour inhiber les β-glucuronidases bactériennes et pour améliorer l'efficacité des agents antinéoplasiques dérivés de la camptothécine ou des agents ou composés substrats de la glucuronidase en atténuant les effets secondaires provoqués par la réactivation par les β-glucuronidases bactériennes de métabolites glucuroconjugués d'agents antinéoplasiques dérivés de la camptothécine ou d'agents ou composés substrats de la glucuronidase.
