A gum base comprising: a) a hydrophilic precursor component comprising hydrolysable units； and b) a copolymer of a hydrophilic monomer with a second monomer selected from vinyl acetate, isobutylene, isoprene, butyl rubber or styrene butadiene. This chewing gum base contributes to the ability of the chewing gum compositions and chewing gum products to degrade over time after chewing by imparting the chewing gum with increased hydrophilic properties.L'invention porte sur une base de gomme qui comporte : a) un composant précurseur hydrophile comportant des motifs hydrolysables ； b) un copolymère d'un monomère hydrophile, un second monomère étant choisi parmi l'acétate de vinyle, l'isobutylène, l'isoprène, le butylcaoutchouc ou le styrène-butadiène. Cette base de gomme à mâcher contribue à l'aptitude des compositions de gomme à mâcher et des produits de type gomme à mâcher à se dégrader au fil du temps après avoir été mâchés en conférant à la gomme à mâcher des propriétés hydrophiles accrues.
