PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent for inhibiting viral infection and/or treating an infectious disease whereby viral infection can be inhibited without being affected by a change in the virus side such as the appearance of a subtype or a variant.SOLUTION: A substance formable of a chelate with calcium ion and/or a substance capable of inhibiting calcium ion influx into cells is used as an active ingredient(s). By using the agent for inhibiting viral infection and treating an infectious disease, viral infection can be inhibited or a viral infectious disease can be treated, both over a wide range of virus strains for a prolonged period of time, without being affected by a change in the virus such as the appearance of a subtype or a variant.【課題】 亜型や変異体の出現などのウイルス側の変化に影響されることなくウイルスの感染を抑制することができる、ウイルス感染抑制および／または感染症治療剤を提供する。【解決手段】 カルシウムイオンとキレートを形成する物質および／または細胞内へのカルシウムイオンの流入を抑制する物質を有効成分とする。本発明に係るウイルス感染抑制および感染症治療剤によれば、亜型や変異体の出現などのウイルス側の変化に影響されることなく、広範囲のウイルス株に対して長期的に、感染を抑制することまたはウイルス感染症を治療することができる。【選択図】 図１
