A prosthetic heart valve features a support framework which is reversibly collapsible, shown deployed in fig.12b. The framework features a D shaped portion which supports one way leaflet valves. The shape of the frame may be closely contoured to the left ventricle or mitral annulus, into which the prosthesis is intended to be placed. The collapsibility of the frame may aid insertion by catheter.
