The present invention is related to an additive with biocidal properties based on an active agent with antimicrobial and antifouling properties, wherein the additive corresponds to a supporting material, inert substrate or carrier, which has been modified with antimicrobial agents. The invention further describes the method for modifying the supporting material, inert substrate or carrier, with antimicrobial agents. The resulting additives have a biocidal activity, and can be incorporated in different matrices, such as polymeric resins, either natural or synthetic, thermoplastic or thermostable, organic coatings, ceramics, paintings, varnishes and coatings, granting biocidal activity to those matrices.La presente invención se refiere a un aditivo con propiedades biocidas a base de un agente activo con propiedades antimicrobianas y anti-incrustantes, en donde el aditivo corresponde a un material de soporte, sustrato o vehículo inerte, que ha sido modificado con agentes antimicrobianos. La invención describe además el método para modificar el material de soporte, sustrato o vehículo inerte, con agentes antimicrobianos. Los aditivos resultantes tienen una actividad biocida, y se pueden incorporar en diferentes matrices, tales como resinas poliméricas, ya sea naturales o sintéticos, termoplásticos o termoestables, recubrimientos orgánicos, cerámicas, pinturas, barnices y revestimientos, que otorgan actividad biocida a esas matrices.
