The present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating menopausal disorders comprising an extract of Dendropanax morbifera LEV., wherein the extract of Dendropanax morbifera LEV. shows significant ER full agonistic activities in cells, and shows a full ER agonistic activity having an EC_50 value of approximately 100 g/ml. According to the present invention, the extract of Dendropanax morbifera LEV. containing high contents of estrogen-like plant metabolites may be beneficially used in a hormone replacement therapy for ameliorating various symptoms induced by estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women.본 발명은 황칠나무(Dendropanaxmorbifera LEV.) 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 갱년기 질환 예방 및 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로 황칠나무 추출물은 세포내에서 유의적으로 ER 작용제 활성을 나타내고, EC50 값이 약 100 μg/ml로, 매우 강력한 ER 작용제(Full agonist) 활성을 내므로, 에스트로겐과 유사한 식물 대사물질(plant metabolites)을 고함량으로 포함하고 있는 황칠나무 추출물은 갱년기 여성에서 에스트로겐 결핍으로 유래된 다양한 증상을 개선시킬 수 있는 호르몬대체요법으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
