A concentrate composition comprising: (a) at least 0.1 wt% of a surfactant compound; and (b) at least 10 wt% one or more ingredients selected from aldehydes, succinimidyl esters, chelating agents and amine salts of carboxylic acids. Most preferably, the aldehyde is 2-hydroxyoctanal; most preferably the chelating agent is either glutamic acid N,N-diacetic acid (GLDA) or diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA). Most preferably the amine salt of a carboxylic acid is the triethanolamine salt of octanoic acid. Most preferably, the surfactant is either sodium laureth sulfate (SLES, SLS), or cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB), or mixtures thereof. Preferably (a) and (b) together amount for, at least, 20 wt.% of the composition. Preferably, the composition is a stable emulsion. Most preferably the composition comprises all of: a surfactant, an aldehyde, a chelate and the amine salt of a carboxylic acid. Composition is claimed as being able to combat colour loss of dyed material (e.g. hair).
