An apparatus for preventing a barnacle from being attached and a method therefor using an ultraviolet generator are disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for preventing a barnacle from being attached using an ultraviolet generator comprises: an ultraviolet generation unit disposed near a propeller to irradiate an ultraviolet ray onto the propeller of a ship an ultraviolet watertight unit blocking sea water with respect to the ultraviolet generation unit to operate the ultraviolet generation unit in the water and an electric supply unit watertightly inserted into the ultraviolet watertight unit to be connected to the ultraviolet generation unit.
