According to an embodiment of the present invention, disclosed is an apparatus for diagnosing a pigmented lesion, including: a sound sensing unit for sensing a photoacoustic wave generated when a laser is irradiated to a target for checking the pigmented lesion； and a diagnosing unit for calculating the depth and/or thickness of the pigmented lesion based on a time at which the photoacoustic wave is sensed and laser irradiation time information for the laser irradiated to the target. Accordingly, the present invention can inform a user of the progress state of a malignant lesion.본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 색소 병변을 확인할 타겟으로 레이저가 조사되었을 때 발생되는 포토어코스틱 웨이브를 감지하는 음향 감지부； 및 포토어코스틱 웨이브가 감지된 시각과 타겟에 조사된 레이저에 대한 레이저 조사 시각 정보에 기초하여, 색소 병변(pigmented lesion)의 깊이 및/또는 두께를 계산하는 진단부；를 포함하는 색소 병변의 진단 장치가 개시된다.
