PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight and size of a spool brake device used for a fishing reel.SOLUTION: A spool brake device 20 brakes the rotation of a spool 12 rotatably supported by a reel body. The spool 12, which is a conductor, is regarded as a conductor that rotates in conjunction with the spool 12. A magnet 51 has an N pole and an S pole on the surface facing the rotary surface of the spool 12. A holding member 61, a support ring 62, and an engaging member 63 constitute a magnetic flux change ratio varying mechanism.
