<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope which provides the practical depth of field and enables the treatment by a treatment tool while observing a subject in detail. <;P>;SOLUTION: An imaging unit 19 which comprises a monofocal object lens system 17 and a CCD 18 having a light receiving plane at an imaging position of the above are disposed at a pointed head section 11 of an insertion section. An imaging unit 19 satisfies the conditions of that a monochrome strap (a stripe) S1 which has a pitch of 35 &mu;m and is disposed at an object distance d1 with the highest resolution can be identified and a monochrome strap (a stripe) S2 which has a pitch of 0.5 mm and is disposed at the distance d2=50 mm in a long-distance view side can be identified. By projecting a pointed head side of the treatment tool 28 from a pointed head aperture 26 of a channel which is adjacent to the imaging unit 19, the image of the pointed head side of the treatment tool 28 is formed on the CCD 18 so that the treatment can be smoothly performed. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
