Provided is a contact pressure measuring method whereby the contact pressure between a patient and bedding can be measured with high accuracy by taking into account the positional relationship. The device for this method comprises a contact pressure sensor that is provided with a plurality of sensor elements the insides of which are filled with air and which, if pressed, apply air pressure to the outside via connected tubes, one of the sensor elements being located in the central portion, the rest thereof being located on a concentric circle around the above-mentioned one sensor element and a main body to which the contact pressure sensor is connected. The main body comprises a power switch, a start button, a guidance button, a memory button, a memory, and a liquid crystal display. An external appearance schematic of the contact pressure sensor is shown on the liquid crystal display. Furthermore, when contact pressure is applied to the contact pressure sensor, then the respective contact pressure is displayed corresponding to the arrangement state of the sensor elements. Subsequently, the contact pressure sensor is made to move so that the sensor element indicating the highest contact pressure will be located in the central portion of the external appearance schematic. Then, by pressing the start button to ON, the maximum value of the contact pressure on the sensor element located in the central portion is measured.
