PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject information acquisition apparatus capable of reducing noise included in detection signals obtained by detecting photoacoustic waves.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition apparatus includes: an optical system for guiding light emitted by a light source and irradiating a subject with emission light； an acoustic wave detector for detecting photoacoustic waves generated inside the subject by the irradiation of the subject with the emission light, and outputting detection signals； and a light shielding member disposed between the optical system and the acoustic wave detector, for reducing intensity of the emission light with which the detection surface of the photoacoustic waves in the acoustic wave detector is irradiated.【課題】 本発明は、光音響波を検出して得られる検出信号に含まれるノイズを低減することのできる被検体情報取得装置を提供することを目的とする。【解決手段】 本発明に係る被検体情報取得装置は、光源により発せられた光を導いて出射光を被検体へ照射する光学系と、出射光が被検体に照射されることにより被検体内部で発生した光音響波を検出して検出信号を出力する音響波検出器と、光学系と音響波検出器との間に配置され、音響波検出器における光音響波の検出面に照射される出射光の強度を低減させる遮光部材と、を有する。【選択図】 図１
