#$%^&*AU2019250151A120191031.pdf#####ABSTRACT There is disclosed a method of creating a void space in bone, comprising: providing a system comprising: an access cannula including a tube having a distal end which is open; and a device having a handle, an elongate member extending forward from the handle, said member comprising a shaft moveably attached to the handle, a working tip located at a distal end of said member, and a pre-bent flexible elbow disposed between the shaft and the tip, and a control assembly configured to extend the shaft relative to the handle; with the tube inserted into the bone, the elongate member fitted into a bore of the tube, and the shaft in a retracted state, such that the elbow and tip are disposed within a distal section of the tube and the elbow is thus flexed so as to be straightened, extending the shaft relative to the handle with the control assembly, whereby resistance of the bone adjacent the tip prevents the tip from protruding outwardly and the handle is thus moved, so as to be displaced proximally away from the cannula, instead of the tip moving distally; and pressing on the handle to apply a distally directed force such that the tip is pressed against the bone, thus abrading the bone and being advanced from the tube so that the elbow returns to being bent in shape, wherein the void space is created by abrasion of the bone by the tip, so as to extend radially away, to an extent, from the distal end of the tube.
