The invention relates to a process for obtaining a cryo-resistant lineage of ornamental guppy (Poecilia reticulata) fishes, said lineage being useful in ornamental fish farms for reducing the costs for growing and maintaining the stocks destined for fishkeeping. The cryo-resistant guppy females, obtained by the claimed process, reach the size suitable for sale, of 2.5...3 cm SL, at the age of 65...67 days, if they are grown at a temperature of 17...19°C, they survive several hours at 10...12°C, several days at 14...16°C and they are tolerant to temperature variations, and the cryo-resistant hemizygous guppy male fish, obtained by the same process, reach the size suitable for sale of 1.8...2.0 cm SL at the age of 65...67 days, if they are grown at a temperature of 17...19°C, they survive several hours at 10...12°C, several days at 14...16°C and they are tolerant to temperature variations, the lineage of guppy fish formed by said females and males may result in genetically pure cryo-resistant descendants.Invenţia se referă la un procedeu de obţinere a unei linii criorezistente de peşti ornamentali guppy (), această linie fiind utilă în crescătoriile de peşti ornamentali, pentru reducerea costurilor de creştere şi întreţinere a stocurilor cu destinaţie acvariofilă.
