A vegetation cutter is disclosed. Conventional vehicle-mounted mowers or slashers do not allow for the cutting of vegetation close to posts, with attempts to do so often resulting in damage or destruction of the posts. As such, it is often necessary for people to subsequently walk the route with whipper snippers and/or chemical vegetation spray management units to remove the remaining vegetation. The disclosed vegetation cutter cuts vegetation circumferent an obstacle in a single operation – therefore avoiding a second (often labour intensive) operation to remove such vegetation. The vegetation cutter (800) comprises a frame (802) comprising a dock (806) for receiving the obstacle. A member (see 818, figure 6) that is substantially planar, circular in shape, and has an object-receiving inner channel (822), is rotatably movable relative to the frame (802). At least one cutter (see 820a, 820b, 820c, figure 6) depends from the member. In use, a post is received in the inner channel and the frame (802) of the vegetation cutter remains stationary as the member rotates, circumferentially moving the cutter about the periphery of the tree/post (see also figure 8). The provision of the member (see 818, figure 6) enables two or three cutters (see 820a, 820b, 820c, figure 6) to be carried and therefore can be used to cut wide swathes of vegetation as well as provide an even balance during operation.
